Hey there!
MY NAME IS ANNIKA AND THIS IS MY VISION
As a young artist, I seek to answer some of the most perplexing questions through my art. My goal isn’t simply to make beautiful art but to make original pieces that encourage others to immerse themselves in deep thought.
A majority of my pieces bring animal skulls to life in an attempt to encourage my community to reflect on subjects, such as our approach towards death, in greater depth.
Coming from a bilingual school, I was exposed to many cultural traditions that included celebrating the dead with bright colors and lively festivities, which isn’t typical in American culture. While mourning is important, it’s also important to consider how the dead would want to be remembered. I would want to be remembered with lively celebration and wonder, and that dichotomy is what I portray in my art.
